In Boom Beach, you expand your island base through the use of various resources. These include:

Gold
Wood
Stone
Iron
Diamonds

Gold in Boom Beach can be obtained by building Residences and conquering islands. Each time an Residence is upgraded it will generate more Gold. Freed villages also send you gold as thanks. Gold is used for training and research of troops, exploring the map of the archipelago and removing trees or rocks from your base.

Wood in Boom Beach can be obtained by the Sawmill, conquering islands, Resource Bases and cutting down trees. It can also be obtained by exchanging Diamonds for it. Wood is used for every type of building in Boom Beach.

Stone in Boom Beach can be obtained by a Quarry, conquering islands and Resource Bases. It can also be obtained by exchanging Diamonds for it. Stone is mostly used for major upgrades on buildings.

Iron in Boom Beach can be obtained by a Iron Mine, conquering islands and Resource Bases. It can also be obtained by exchanging Diamonds for it. Iron is used for big upgrades on buildings in Boom Beach.

Diamonds in Boom Beach can be obtained by completing achievements and defending your base. In defense you’ll earn them if you destroy enough enemy troops. They also show up random on your map as treasure chests. Diamonds can also be obtained by in game purchases through iTunes. They are the most valuable currency in Boom Beach. Diamonds are used for buying resources and can be used to finish upgrades without the use of resources.
